A pitch introduces the business and opens a conversation. The longer plan and financial report support that conversation with the operating detail and assumptions.

THE IDEA TO KEEP

Shorten the presentation without changing the facts. One financial model should support every financial claim.

Give every slide one clear job.

Our approved example follows ten slides. The order moves from the idea and customer problem to the business model, evidence and proposed funding. It is a useful structure for this sample, rather than a promise that every investor wants the same sequence.

  1. TitleName the business and its core offer.
  2. ProblemExplain a specific customer occasion.
  3. SolutionShow how the offer addresses it.
  4. MarketDefine the intended customer and reach.
  5. Business modelShow how revenue and delivery connect.
  6. CompetitionExplain alternatives and positioning.
  7. FundingShow startup uses and the funding structure.
  8. TeamIdentify roles and relevant capabilities.
  9. TractionState the evidence and current stage.
  10. FundraisingMake the request and next discussion clear.

Use the same financial story in every document.

In Cedar & Saffron, the pitch, plan and annual report use the same saved forecast. The deck must not turn the first-year loss into a profit or treat proposed investment as confirmed cash.

Selected numbers can fit on a slide, but their meaning must survive abbreviation. The $170,000 external equity request sits beside an $80,000 proposed founder contribution. Together they form the $250,000 assumed financing input; neither contribution is committed.

Keep a path to the detailed report for someone who wants to inspect the sales ramp, startup uses or monthly cash risk.

Make the current stage understandable.

The restaurant is a fictional prelaunch case. Its traction slide cannot claim trading history, signed customers or an approved site. It can identify what is proposed and which tests would produce useful evidence.

Use the same care with team information. Describe actual roles and confirmed experience when supplied. Do not create named executives, credentials or adviser endorsements to make a deck feel complete.

A concise slide should make a fact easier to understand, without making it stronger than the evidence supports.

Design for presenting and for inspection.

Keep one primary idea on each slide, with large readable type and short labels. Supporting detail belongs in the plan or report. The example page lets readers view all ten actual PDF slides, enlarge them and open the matching PDF page.

Before sharing a deck, compare its financial labels with the final report, check the funding language and confirm that the business stage is clear. Refresh previews after any final PDF change.
